Contributing to the Stanley Surname NetworkIn order to upload submissions as quickly as possible we've established some guidelines. Please note that submissions will be uploaded in the order in which they are received. Submissions that need to be transcribed by the administrators will be placed at the bottom of the list. The Administrators reserve the right to reformat submissions. All submissions and/or questions about submissions should be send to SSN Administrators. |
Throughout the Stanley Surname Network we practice safe genealogy. The only exceptions to this rule are the DNA participants and only with their consent.
We use a cut-off age of 100 years. Any submission involving individuals that are 1) 100 years of age or younger and 2) it is unknown if this individual is still living, we will treat it as still living.
When an individual is, or is considered to be, still living, we do not publish that individual's date of birth, place of birth, date- and place of marriage. If the individual has children, their names may be published but no further information. If the individual has been married more than once and the previous marriage(s) ended in a divorce, those marriages will not be published, nor will the children from that marriage be mentioned. If it is not clear how a previous marriage ended, we handle the safe rule.
Not only do we apply this rule to any gedcom or genealogy report we may receive, but also to public documents such as birth- and marriage certificates.
Information submitted to us that do not conform to the "safe genealogy" rule will be modified. The Administrators will inform contributors of any alterations based on the above.
The Administrators may retain unpublished material to be used at a later, appropriate time.
If you have any questions, please contact the Administrators.
