Who we are
We are a group of amateur genealogists who all have a few things in common:
We are Stanley descendants;
We try to find our Stanley ancestor;
We try to find and connect with other Stanley descendants;
We try to help other Stanley researchers.
Some of us are also participants in the Stanley Surname DNA Project, and this site is a result of our DNA project.
What we do
We try to sort out the various Stanley genealogies through the information provided by the participants in the Stanley Surname DNA Project in combination with their test results. This can be found in our Stanley DNA section.
We have a few very active members who are locating original source documents which will be transcribed for upload to this website. These originals can be anything from census records, birth-, death-, and marriage certificates, military info, bible records, biographies...everything Stanley! This kind of material can be found in the Stanley Genealogy section.
Please note that throughout this website we refer to the surname "Stanley". However, there are many variations. To name a few: Standley, Stanly, Standly, Stanlee, Standlee, Stanleigh. All variations to the surname Stanley are included on this site and will be used where appropriate.
What's New
Our site is undergoing some major changes. Our Stanley Genealogy section is now powered by TNG, allowing registered users to upload their GedCom directly. Owners of GedComs can allow other registered users to collaborate.
Source documents that were available in the previous version of our Stanley Genealogy section will be incorporated in the new format. Until then they can still be accessed here.
The Stanley DNA section is also undergoing some changes. Some of the pages, such as the contact list and ancestor charts are no longer needed, since that information will be available through the genealogy section. Those pages can still be accessed here until participants have transferred their information to our new genealogy section.
Also new is our off-site forum; you'll need to register in order to post but anyone can view the posts.
What we hope for
We hope that with the help from Stanley descendants from around the world, this site will grow into the No. 1 resource for Stanley researchers.
If you have a Stanley genealogy website, consider listing it with us, or better yet: Publish your Stanley genealogy on our site;
If you have a Stanley gedcom but no website, consider publishing it with us;
If you have Stanley information of genealogical interest, register for a Stanley Genealogy user account. Vital information, obituaries, newspaper clippings, bible pages, photos, etc. are all "hot" commodities;
If you are a male Stanley, from a straight line of male Stanley descendants, consider participation in the Stanley Surname DNA Project;
If you cannot participate in our DNA project but want to help anyway, consider donating to our DNA General Fund or sponsoring someone. Sponsorships can be announced on our forum (off-site)
About this site
There will be times that our site, or part thereof, is not available. At times you may see a page telling you that the requested page does not exists. These errors will occur when our hosts have problems with their servers. When this happens, please be patient and try again later. Web servers are not under our control, hence we cannot foresee when or why they occur.
We want to keep this website free of advertisements, therefore we rely on donations which we will be accepting starting June 1, 2006.
